nativ.ly helps Levi’s build the first integrated brand partnership with SoundCloud.
SoundCloud aka “The YouTube of Sound” is where more than 180 million users/month go to “hear the world’s sounds.” However, the unique power of this platform lies not just in the massive scale of listeners, but in activating the millions of “creators” who post, a ridiculous, 10 hours of audio every minute!
Levi’s #makeourmark On SoundCloud
Not many brand’s value being “relevant” and edgy to their core millennial audience more than Levi’s. Their #makeourmark campaign is a “public art project” that manifests itself via the eclectic “Station to Station” tour. When OMD (Levi’s media agency) asked nativ.ly for a digital partnership that could extend this “collaboration” to an innovative social platform, we were thrilled to help them bring the 1st ever Branded UGC Contest to life on SoundCloud!
The SoundCloud #makeourmark contest enables the community to collaborate with cutting edge musicians, curated by indie tastemaker Pitchfork Media. Artists such as Grizzly Bear, AraabMuzik, and Toro y Moi contributed “Sparks” (stems), ranging from gorgeous vocal harmonies to insane “trap” beats. The SoundCloud community was then encouraged to download the “Sparks” and add their own vocals, instruments, etc. to re-imagine into something completely new. The winning sound creators will receive awesome prizes (like a Sonos Wireless Hifi system) and, more importantly, community recognition since their winning sounds will be promoted throughout SoundCloud as a featured “Moving Sound”.
